Teh Cha

A publication by PoC, for PoC created in collaboration with Nelya Valamanesh

Our Mission

Teh Cha has been co-founded between friends Nelya Valamanesh and Haneen Mahmood Martin across the unceded lands in Kaurna (Adelaide), and Garamilla (Darwin).

We created this platform to share the voices of First Nations, Black and PoC people between 2021-2022. We wanted to create an online space that is a source of joy and pride for our extended communities, and where people don’t need to explain themselves. These topics have usually remained between cups of tea in living rooms, cafes or laying beside a sofreh. Pop-culture left out of the mainstream, unfiltered stories of resilience, sweet contemplations and theories rooted in our diasporic experience.

Teh Cha is a place to share all these stories that make your heart beat fast, your foot tap uncontrollably and words to leave your lips curled into a smile and met with laughter by a dear friend.

Our doors are now open, just remember to leave your shoes at the door.
